Training newsletters are part of the Training Program and are emailed to team members. They are archived here for training team members and additionally to help new persons evaluate the program.

Your 2024 training season extends into 2025 and ends after your Scotland trip. Then you will need to register as a Training Partner if not an Up North team member.
Up North team members participate in all training hikes and activities through the end of 2025. You DO NOT need to register as a Training Partner.
Training Partners are those NOT going to Scotland or Up North. You must register by FEB 1 to continue receiving newsletters. You can pay the annual $100 training fee in advance or at the first hike you attend.

Meeting place for all Roadrunner Trails courses and the annual Aloha Fantasy Run/Walk on New Year's Day. It's also the location of the Cairn Stone Christmas Party and trip Reunions.
A Cairn Stone hiker favorite road and trail course. Nature Center has modern toilets and a great lecture room located near Berrien Center, Michigan.
Located a few miles south of M-60 between Vandalia and Jones, this is definitely a Cairn Stone hiker favorite. This all trail course has distances out to 13.1 miles and is the setting for the All Trail Sandhill Crane Half Marathon race in October.
Located near Stevensville, Michigan, this all trail course begins at North Lake Park, just outside the State Park. The course takes you on wooded trails, over sand dunes and along Lake Michigan. This too is often a wake up call for our rookies.
Located near Chesterton, Indiana, this course begins in Indiana Dunes State Park but includes Indiana Dunes National Park. The course will take you along Lake Michigan and includes parts of the 3 Dunes Challenge. Another tough yet rewarding course.
Coach's favorite Zig Zag course in Saugatuck, Michigan and the location for his annual Labor Day Run/Walk and picnic potluck. "Get your red hots here!"
Located 5 miles south of Niles, Michigan, this is a great local park and the starting point for the all trail course that crosses into Indiana to continue on trails in St. Pat's Park.
Located near Angola, Michigan, this is a great all trail course in this wonderful State Park. Many of our hikers will overnight at the lodge.
A wonderfully spacious State Park located 12 miles south of South Bend near North Liberty, Indiana. Well groomed trails take you through woodlands, along restored natural meadows and lakes.
Located near Holland, Michigan, your long drive to this park is rewarded by another beautiful and rewarding course over dunes, through wooded trails and along Lake Michigan.
Located north of M-60 just west of Jones, Michigan. It's a very beautiful course and one of our toughest hikes. Often it is a wake up call for our rookies. Only Coach Gunn could get access to hike the ski slopes of a ski lodge. The course includes wooded trails and sparsely traveled bucolic gravel roads. When you complete this hike you will understand that it is a serious training program.
Located across from Indian Lake Golf Course, Eau Claire, Michigan. The original fruit farm is no longer in business, but Coach Gunn has maintained relationships to still gain access to hike the orchards and wooded trails. This trail and road course takes you through fragrant orchards heavy with fruit (in the Fall) and along the golf course and Indian Lake.
