MANISTEE RIVER VALLEY HIKE

For extreme hike candidates this hike is mandatory - no exceptions.  For all others this is optional and a wonderful destination hike.  

(All others = PNW not doing Mt. St. Helens hike, Training Partners and guests.)

A range of distance options give moderate hikers a great experience hiking along the meandering Manistee River and the marathon distance Test Hike is a great challenge for extreme hikers that will demonstrate their fitness level and endurance.  A successful completion of this Test Hike gives each hiker the confidence to take on an extreme hike and proves to Coach Gunn that you can safely take on your backcountry hike.

In 2023 for our elite Mt. St. Helens hikers this hike is mandatory to prove their fitness level.  This endurance hike rewards the hiker with the beautiful views of the meandering Manistee River along the second half of the course.  It's a deep woods experience you will long remember.  Watch for Coach's email with final instructions the week of the Test Hike.  Do not miss the Friday Reception as there may be last minute changes.  [MAP to Trailhead]

The Manistee Hike is not an organized trip.  You must travel on your own and make your own hotel reservations.  SUBMIT YOUR FORM - Coach Gunn does need to hear from everyone planning to attend so he can make the correct preparations.  Whether you camp, stay at another hotel or drive back that night it is helpful for him to know your plans so the hike can go well.  Mail in or submit online form.  Thank you.
