Manistee River Trail is part of the North Country Trail and one of the finest hiking venues in all the Midwest. This is the final hike and the 2nd qualifier Test Hike for the Grand Canyon Extreme Hike this fall. While the Test Hike for the below the Rim hikers is the primary purpose for this excursion it is also open to others who wish to hike just to enjoy the splendor of this prime location. Many veterans of past trips, training partners and other running and hiking friends of Coach Gunn will join us to hike some measure of this course for the shear enjoyment and beauty of the Manistee River Trail. You are welcome to join us for this weekend adventure.
A variety of distance options are available for those who do not wish to tackle the full 21.4 mile 2013 course. Everyone will sign in and sign out for safety.
Casual hikers are accommodated by drop off stops for a full range of distance options. Three water stop and safety checks are provided during this breathtakingly scenic course through deep forest and along the meandering Manistee River.
This trip is open to all hikers: Cairn Stone hikers, Training Partners, veterans of past Cairn Stone trips, MNRC members, or anyone who might want to join our awesome group for this awesome hike.
